Short, Sweet & Simple

Inspired by SK, today Princess Ribbon also wants to post something nice & short & sweet & simple & easy to understand.

Had lunch with colleagues at somewhere in Subang Jaya yesterday. Oh, wait, the place called Ho Ho Sek @ Chow Yang SS2. Didn't bother recognizing the place as I wasn't the one driving anyway. And, it was too sunny to take photo of the food court plus I'd look pretty silly standing under the scorching sun to take photo of the food court's name.

I ordered 'mun farn' plus an additional fried egg. RM7.00. To me, it's rice in 'banjir' eggy (wat-tan) gravy. Call me jakun. Yesterday was the first time I tried 'mun farn'.

So does this look like wat-tan-hor?

  2. Rice? Yes, used to order than long ago in Singapore - a complete meal by itself, all the I could afford then. So nice - so much meat...and an extra egg some more, so much egg already in the gravy. Hehehehe!!!

    1. Yep, rice buried under the eggy gravy.. Yesterday was the first time I ate "mun farn", nice, I like..

  3. I thought it was some kind of gravy noodles. I love wat tan hor a lot, must have with pickled green chillies. I have never eaten rice with this kind of gravy. Actually, I prefer my rice dry just like it is. Don't really fancy a lot of chap on it. Just a bot OK, I hate it when the food sellers (some don't allow self-service) put chap on my rice. Once I told this Indian guy "tak mau kuah" but he still put curry chap on my rice. Grrrr...I was so angry. But I don't mind trying this "mun farn" if I see it.

    2. Haha, was wondering for a second what is bot..
Oohh, you don't like too much gravy on your rice? Me opposite, I love to "flood" my rice with gravy, but NOT curry.. I know what you mean, when I buy nasi kandar, the fella will automatically pour (few types of) gravy onto my rice - curry chicken, fish curry and mutton curry..

  4. Mun Farn or Mui Farn? hehehee... over here it is called Mui farn... same cos flooded with gravy! Yummss... I remember you saying that you like anything with gravy, right? So this must be very nice for you...

    1. Darling, this is Mun Farn wor.. Never heard of Mui Farn before.. But maybe it's the same thing hor.. Yep, you are right, I like anything gravy.. People always comment I like to eat food like "kids style", where I will "lou" all the gravy together in my rice until "flooded"..

  6. hahaha, no that's not me but Wenn and Sharon lah.. i think i write more words than they do and post so much less photos than the post.. maybe that explains why my tribute posts are more popular than the usual posts i write on my own style, kekekekeke!! :D

but then sometimes not easy to write short and sweet post also.. especially for me, when i started to write, naturally i will have more things that come into my mind, and then i tend to write more than i planned to, and end up, it's not short and sweet anymore, but sometimes a little long winded.. i know i know, readers will only spend time on a certain amount of words, and if exceed that threshold, many will just scroll quickly either just see the photos or fast forward to the last paragraph.. then can comment liao~~

    1. Eh, yau mou? Not easy to write short post? Hou yung yi only wor.. Write some introduction, then some description, then paste few pictures, kautim liao lor..

Err, actually I'm also worried when I write long post.. Like you said, reader (I'm human too) will read the beginning, then scroll very fast, then fast fast comment something for the sake of commenting..

    2. I want to learn to write short and sweet too. I think SK mimicked me like a grumpy Grandma!!! Muahahaha

  7. wah, this "mun fan" looks good woh, i see the gravy macam quite loaded and very flavorful lor.. nice to have this type of heavily "gravied" food sometimes, though quite fattening lah (of course Princess Ribbon no afraid of being fat lah, she got so much quota to stuff in fats).. with an extra egg at only RM7.00 is not expensive lor.. some places i go ah, their "mun fan" is already RM8.50 leh, not high class restaurant or cafe, but a air-conditioned kopitiam style chinese restaurant only..

so after this plate of loaded "mun fan", you can still eat more things or not?? frankly, quite filling lor, especially if you also ordered a drink, sure full to the brim for me.. and i wonder, the rice is plain rice or they got slightly fried with some eggs?? fried ones would be a lot nicer lor, but maybe kena add an extra RM1 lah..

    1. I was eating with colleagues yesterday, of course only ordered this "mun farn" with one glass of soya bean.. If I go eat with hubby, I would have called a plate of char kueh teow, a bowl of fish slice porridge, maybe another bowl of pork mee.. Oohh and also some egg tarts & siew pau..
You know, there are a lot of stalls there, it's a big food court and people sit all in the middle.. So all the stalls are beside the corridor.. I felt like ordering so many food, but with colleagues, I have to pretend to look "see mun" lor..

    2. The rice is plain rice nia..
If you got time, go Ho Ho Sek @ SS2. I read some reviews about this place, albeit it's just a food court..
Must try: char kuey teow, fish slice porridge and pork mee..

  8. This food is good enough for me to eat though it looks like a plate of Tsunami. Wakakakaka
I guess your working area is not very happening for eatery outlets like in PJ or KL. I am inside a worse location of a heavy industrial hub where the shops sell limited Chinese food but I am still flexible to eat anything happily. After all, we are Malaysians.

    1. My office is located in Ara Damansara.. Not very happening like you said, the most popular place is Oasis lor, but food is not cheap there.. Must get ready >RM20++ if wana eat at Oasis..

    2. TM, I like your statement - it looks like a plate of Tsunami.. Wakakakakaka..

  9. I've never had mun farn before! :)

It looks good though, if it's rice without a lot of meat, I can't eat it without a lot of gravy! Thus, it has to be banjir for me if it's nasi only, I can't eat fried rice by itself unless there's also a lot of meat as a side dish. I must go and try someday.

    1. Same here, I'm a meat person, I like a lot of sides with my meal, haha.. I don't like vegetables, but if I must eat vegetables, I like it with a lot of meat or eggy gravy, like this mun farn..

  10. Yes, it definitely look like wat tan hor. Thank you for posting this because now I know what mun farn is I will make sure not to order it because I do not like to eat gravy.

  11. Not used to your short and simple post. Haha.

Mun fang?? It doez look likd wat tan hor. Too flooded I think. I dont really fancy my rice in too much gravy with the exception of curry chicken rice..

  12. Looks like wat tan hor to me!
Just that the egg adds a bit specialty to it....

  13. What is this? I am more jakun haha! Never tried mun farn before. LOL! Looks nice with the gravy flooding the rice but I think I like mostly is that egg on top of the rice haha!

  14. I like rice filled with soup but not gravy. Cos I like it mild and not salty.

  15. thank you for leaving me that (very) nice comment, Princess. it really warmed my heart. i don't believe anybody would've bothered reading it even once let alone, thrice. thank you.

& a great big hug to you for having discovered the true impact of The Butterfly Effect for yourself, too. you know, until the night i wrote & published that post, it was only ever something i'd ever read/heard about. but now i know one very simple choice, decision, occurrence can in fact, forever change (the course of) your life. at any rate, i hope you cross the threshold soon— from punishing yourself to forgiving yourself. unfortunately, i can't say that i can teach you because i don't know the why, the how or the when myself. maybe somewhere along the way, something just fell into place. & until that time.. one just has to wait.

be well, Princess. take care xoxo
